Services

At College Portfolios, we put the student first.

Our program is comprehensive and affordable and will alleviate the stress you may be feeling. We have assisted hundreds and hundreds of kids in Washington. The last few years, we have also had the privilege of helping international students and clients in California, Alaska, and Texas.  This is such an exciting time in your life!  We will assist you with every facet of the college application process (including scholarships, all writing portions, activities lists, an academic resume, and interview prep).  It is necessary to set up a 30- minute initial meeting to go over the program and answer any questions you may have. The earlier you begin the better!

If you have not signed up or taken the SAT or ACT, please do so. If you have taken it, please bring your scores to the meeting. If you would like any recommendations for tutors, let us know.

Packages and Fees

Essay Generation and All Application Materials: Our fee for the entire process is $2000.00. There will be no charge for the initial meeting. We ask a $1200.00 deposit upon signing with us, and will collect the remainder no later than June 1st. Even after we are finished with the list of colleges you give us, you can add as many additional colleges during the fall that you would like up to 14 applications. For students wishing to apply to over 14 colleges, see the “Extensive Ivy-League and Tier 2 College Package” below. This package also includes an academic resume, all activity lists, assistance with every application system, interview prep, and scholarship assistance. Scholarship preparation will take place in January and will continue throughout the year. Please note: if you book with us after June 1st, we will ask for the full fee at the initial meeting; additionally, the fee for international applicants is $2400.00 to be paid in full at the initial meeting.

Editing Package: This program is designed for the student who knows exactly what they will write about for their essays. This option is very rare and will require an agreement between the client and us after we discuss options. We will work individually with you throughout the process to insure that your writings are error-free, meet the word count, and include appropriate content for each school. Resume and activity lists are also included. Fee: $750.00 (includes one main essay and supplement essays for 4 schools – additional supplement editing, or main essay editing, will cost an additional $35.00 each). We ask for $450.00 at the initial meeting and will collect the remainder when we are finished with the required essays and supplements.

Extensive Ivy-League and Tier 2 College Package: This is intended for the client who plans on applying to 14 or more colleges considered top tier. This package is not for most students, and in fact, we usually only retain two or three clients each year who are intent on pursuing this path. These colleges each require multiple essays and creative supplements. Fee: $2500.00. We require a deposit of $1800.00 upon contract.

Cancellations: In the event that plans change, we do have a cancellation policy. A portion of your deposit will be refunded, but fees will be subtracted for the initial meeting and any research that was done and shared (our rate per hour is $150). Refund requests made on, or after September 1st will not be considered for up-coming senior year clients who signed on with College Portfolios prior to that date. We do ask that all materials are returned to us and that there is a valid reason for the cancellation.

College Prep/Academic Advising (for Freshmen and Sophomores only): This service is for freshmen and sophomores who are interested in strategizing their high school careers to best situate themselves for the college admissions process. The academic advising package includes three annual meetings to discuss extracurricular activities, class schedules, SAT/ACT scheduling, and community service. The fee is $300 annually, and should you and your student choose to sign-on with us for the college admissions services offered to juniors and seniors after sophomore year, your student will be considered a priority client and will have additional access to College Portfolio’s available resources, as well as a price-lock guarantee as discussed upon the initial meeting should our rates increase throughout your student’s high school career.

Tutoring

Although one-on-one tutoring is not included in any of our College Portfolios program, a few of our staff are available for private tutoring in English, History, Math, the Sciences, Japanese, and more. Keep in mind, as only two of our staff are available for private tutoring as of now, spots are limited and will operate on a first-come first-serve basis.

Advanced Research Workshop and Paper Assistance

Aside from class-specific tutoring, Adrian frequently takes on clients who want to learn the graduate-level research methods needed in order to carry out legitimate research and write academic research papers, or as a means of self-empowerment in this chaotic world of biased media and fake news. Clients may come to Adrian with a specific paper in mind for a high school or college-level course, and he will work directly with you over the course of an individualized schedule - guiding you through the processes of research question/thesis writing, advanced peer review research and data collection, and organization of the hard-won research into a coherent and well written paper. Clients may also come to Adrian in order to learn how to apply these research methods more generally, either for academic or personal reasons, and together you will come up with an area of focus upon which to craft a body of research for the purpose of practicing the application of advanced research methods to areas of political, scientific, cultural, or other interests - a valuable skill which will serve you for life.
