Meet Lisa & Adrian

We are a family of educators, and College Portfolios is a family business. We approach the college admissions process as a family affair, seeking to balance the desires and needs of both students and parents.

Lisa is an educator with over twenty-five years of experience teaching English and History at both the middle and high school levels. She holds a BA in English and an MA in Education from the University of Puget Sound. She has taught in a wide variety of environments, from public to private, and from urban to suburban. In both the classroom and in college advising, Lisa’s approach is always student-centered. She believes that a rich and rewarding educational path exists for every student, no matter their background, abilities, or unique challenges. She founded College Portfolios in 2011 to respond to a need in the greater Seattle area for reasonably priced, personally invested, and high quality college admissions advising. Running College Portfolios has since become her full-time career, and helping students achieve their dreams is her full-time passion.

Lisa’s son Adrian is a graduate student pursuing his MA in Asian Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Adrian’s research is multidisciplinary, including fields of study such as history, anthropology, sociology, international relations and economics. His research focus is late-nineteenth century to modern day Japan. Specifically, his work focuses on the foundations and legacies of Japanese imperialism as it relates to contemporary Japanese racial power structures, economics, and international relations with its neighbors in the IndoPacific region. Adrian is currently on a full-ride academic achievement scholarship as a fellowship recipient in recognition of his research and high standing within the department. As a current graduate student, he is well-versed in the competitive and rapidly changing characteristics of modern academia, and believes that there is a path for each and every student that ends not only in success, but also in fulfillment.
